For an airport transfer with children, provide the total passenger count, each child’s age, height and weight, and a separate luggage and pushchair description. Have the child restraint and vehicle configuration confirmed before travel, together with the pickup address, meeting point and departure time.
Request the right child restraint before booking
State the current measurements for each child and say whether you will bring your own seat. Age alone is not enough to choose a restraint: the Belgian police’s child-seat guidance (in French) stresses a fit appropriate to the child’s size. Count every child in the number of travellers.
- Request a suitable restraint for each child and have its availability confirmed for your journey.
- If bringing a seat, give its model and fitting requirements so compatibility with the vehicle can be checked.
- Agree who will supply and install it, and allow time for installation.
- Confirm the conditions of supply; do not assume every vehicle carries the same equipment.
- Before leaving, check fitting and fastening against the seat and vehicle instructions.
Describe luggage and the folded pushchair
List suitcases and smaller bags separately from the people travelling. Give the pushchair’s folded dimensions, say whether it can be folded before loading, and mention the child seat you are bringing or any bulky items. The seating arrangement and all these items need to be considered together.
Our guide to choosing a transfer vehicle and describing luggage explains the measurements to provide. A passenger-seat count by itself does not establish how many suitcases or pushchairs will fit.
Separate loading time, driving time and airport time
Have the family and bags ready at the agreed accessible point. Keep travel documents and what the children need during the journey within reach. Allow for walking to the vehicle, loading and fitting the restraint as well as the drive.
Use the appropriate departure guide for Brussels Airport or Charleroi Airport when planning the terminal arrival time. A quiet-looking road does not remove the steps inside the airport.
Check airline instructions for the pushchair
The way a pushchair travels in the taxi is separate from how it is handled at the airport or on the flight. Brussels Airport’s official guidance for travel with children explains that pushchair rules vary by airline. Check your airline’s instructions for your flight and where the pushchair will be returned after landing.
Confirm the journey for the whole family
For Brussels Airport, see our private Brussels Airport Shuttle service. For CRL, see our private Charleroi Airport Shuttle service. Confirm the configuration for your actual family and luggage rather than relying on a vehicle photograph.
After a flight, use the airport pickup and driver meeting guide for the relevant airport and terminal. Keep the driver’s contact details available; if the luggage or passenger count has changed for the return, raise that before the journey.
A final check before departure
Check the number of adults and children, the measurements and confirmed restraint for each child, who supplies and installs it, all luggage and the folded pushchair, the vehicle, the exact meeting point and the complete departure plan. Share any change before pickup.
